Google changes Android logo and announces new features for Android 🤖

As the release of Android 14 gets closer, Google has taken everyone by surprise by changing the Android logo. But that’s not all: new features are also coming to Android smartphones.

Don’t write Google android, write Google Android🤖

The last Android logo change was in 2019. At the time, Google’s aim was to make it more visible and recognizable. In the same vein, Google also revised the numbering of Android versions. Confectionery names have been abandoned in favor of numbers, which are easier for the general public to understand.

Google recently decided to refresh its logo once again, but this time the changes are more subtle.

With this update, you’ll notice some subtle changes that help connect Android to Google. In addition to moving away from our longstanding lowercase stylization of “android,” we’re elevating the Android logo by capitalizing the “A,” adding more weight to its appearance when placed next to Google’s logo. While we’ve added more curves and personality unique to Android, the new Android stylization more closely mirrors Google’s logo and creates balance between the two.

But that’s not all. Android’s mascot, the Bugdroid, now has a 3D look with more depth and character.

New features as we wait for Android 14🤩

To accompany the new logo, Google has introduced a number of new features to keep you productive and connected.
One of these features is an interactive Google Assistant widget, which uses artificial intelligence to provide you with useful information at just the right time. This can include highly accurate weather alerts, real-time updates on your whereabouts, as well as reminders about upcoming events.

If you tend to forget your tickets or passes, Google Wallet can save the day. By importing photos of your passes into Google Wallet, you can scan various types of passes with barcodes or QR codes, such as gym or library cards. Simply upload an image of the pass to create a secure digital version stored in your Google Wallet.

For those who drive to work, it’s now possible to attend online meetings directly from your car. The integration of Webex by Cisco and Zoom in your car allows you to initiate and participate in conference calls in audio mode, while accessing the meeting calendar from your car screen. Calls in progress are managed by Android Auto, allowing you to mute your microphone if necessary and end the call once the conversation is over.

Need some morning motivation? Just listen to your activity and sleep data from Fitbit or Google Fit in your personal routines. To get started, add your hours of sleep and the time you start sleeping to your morning routine. Then, simply say « Hey Google, good morning » to get a summary of your sleep data at the start of the day.

Google has also thought of people who are blind or visually impaired. Lookout’s Image Q&A tool improves the accessibility of visual content by using artificial intelligence to generate more detailed descriptions. Once you’ve opened an image, you can ask additional questions. You can use the keyboard or your voice to obtain more information about what the image represents.
