After just over a month since its launch, Threads, the Meta app that was supposed to rival Twitter and is now called 𝕏, has finally announced a web interface.

Threads now accessible from a web browser 🖥️

This feature was requested by users from day one. Meta has officially announced the roll-out of the web interface for its micro-blogging social network, Threads. Previously, it was possible to access Threads from a browser to view different content. From now on, users will be able to post new messages, view their feed and interact with messages from their computer and a web browser. However, it is not yet possible to edit a profile or send a DM (direct message) on Instagram.

Not enough functionality to compete with 𝕏

While the roll-out of this new interface is good news, it is unlikely to encourage users to return to the platform, where the number of active users has plummeted since its launch. Indeed, Threads still suffers from a lack of key features that have contributed to Twitter’s success, such as news search, trending topics and hashtags, allowing users to be at the heart of the news in real time. Currently, the search function on Threads is limited to searching for users.

Threads also faces other obstacles. It should be remembered that, given the considerable amount of personal data collected by the application, it has still not obtained the approval of the European Union and therefore remains blocked on the continent.
With 𝕏 making one decision after another that many users don’t like, will Threads be able to pull through? Only time will tell. And what do you think? Tell us in the comments.
