Ever spent ages tearing apart your living room for your keys, or sweating it out at baggage claim? Google feels your pain. Enter Find Hub—the next evolution of its device-tracking service. But this isn’t just a rebrand. Find Hub is here to change the way we find our stuff—and even our loved ones. Here’s what’s new, and why you might never lose anything again.
A new name, a bigger mission 🌐
“Find My Device” is out; Find Hub is in. This isn’t just a cosmetic update—Google wants Find Hub to be the nerve center for all things location on Android. Now, it’s not just about finding your lost phone. You can track your headphones, your luggage, your skis, or even your family, all from a single, streamlined interface.
Ultra-wideband: Find Hub’s secret weapon📡
The real game-changer here is ultra-wideband (UWB) tech. Apple’s AirTags made it famous, and now Google’s catching up. UWB lets you pinpoint an item’s location down to a few centimeters. Motorola’s Moto Tag will be the first to use it, with more accessories on the way. No more aimless searching—your phone will guide you right to your lost item, almost like a high-tech treasure hunt.
Smart accessories—and some unexpected partners 🎒
Find Hub isn’t just for Google gadgets. Thanks to new partnerships, you’ll soon be able to track July and Mokobara suitcases, Peak skis, and even Pixbee trackers for kids (or Disney fans). Google is also teaming up with five major airlines—including British Airways, Iberia, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Aer Lingus—to help you recover lost luggage mid-journey. No more panic at the baggage carousel.
Going further: tracking even without a signal 🛰️
Find Hub isn’t stopping there. Soon, satellite tracking will let you keep tabs on your stuff—or your loved ones—even when there’s no cell service. Perfect for adventurers or emergencies, this feature aims to make sure you’re never truly out of options. In the meantime, Android’s crowdsourced network keeps expanding, making offline tracking more reliable than ever.
With Find Hub, Google isn’t just catching up—it’s reimagining what location tracking can be. From gadgets to luggage to people, losing things could become a relic of the past. Time will tell if it lives up to the hype, but one thing’s clear: the lost-and-found game just changed for good.
