After strengthening its partnership with Sonatel, the Senegalese authorities have decided to enhance the education sector by training 105,000 teachers and administrative staff in digital tools. This training will place a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence. The initiative is part of the Force-N project, carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education and the Cheikh Hamidou Kane Digital University.

An officially launched initiative 🏫📢

The announcement was made during a consultation workshop held on Thursday, March 13, under the chairmanship of the Minister of National Education.

“Ultimately, the training aims to equip teachers with solid skills for integrating digital technology and AI into their teaching practices. It will also enable the creation of a network of digital referents in all academies, modernize school management and prepare children for the professions of tomorrow.” Moustapha Mamba Guirassy, Minister of National Education.

This initiative reinforces a recently signed agreement between the Ministry of National Education and the Sonatel Foundation. The agreement seeks to improve digital education, modernize school infrastructure, and promote equal opportunities— a comprehensive approach that aims to bring lasting transformation to Senegal’s education sector.

A challenge to overcome for the country🌍📈

In 2024, Senegal scored 0.3380 out of 1 on the Human Capital Index (HCI) of the United Nations, a figure below the African average of 0.4346. This result highlights the urgent need to strengthen digital skills across the country.

Thus, Senegal aims to bridge this gap and equip its population with the necessary tools to take advantage of technological advancements.
