Canva backs down on price increase for its long-time users 💰

Canva has finally decided to partially reverse its recent pricing policy for its Canva Teams plan. The design platform announced to its long-time users that they would continue to enjoy their original rate as a gesture of appreciation for their loyalty.
Responding to criticism 🤬
Last April, Canva removed its initial pricing for teams, which had allowed early users to add up to four additional members at no extra cost. The platform planned to gradually transition existing Canva Teams subscribers to its new standard rate of $10 per month per person starting from three members.
However, in response to criticism about this price increase, Canva has ultimately decided to partially reverse this policy for some of its users.
As a special thank you to our early Canva Teams users for their loyalty and continued support, we’re pleased to maintain their original pricing for their current team. They’ll continue enjoying their current rate, with no action needed on their part.” Canva explained in an email to affected users.
Canva’s « Pricing Promise » 🧐
Alongside this announcement, Canva introduced a new pricing philosophy called the « Pricing Promise. » This approach aims to ensure « fair and transparent pricing for the entire community, » emphasizing transparency, fairness, and accessibility.

Canva’s pricing promise includes the following commitments:
- Always Affordable: Canva pledges to offer a range of accessible plans, whether through premium options or free plans for individuals, nonprofits, and educational institutions.
- Added Value: The company will continue to invest in features and improvements, ensuring users enjoy the best possible experience.
- Transparent and Timely Communication: Canva promises to give at least 60 days’ notice of any pricing changes, allowing users time to adjust.
- Fair Prices Tailored to Local Conditions: Prices will be adjusted to reflect economic conditions in each country, ensuring Canva remains accessible to everyone, wherever they are.
- No Hidden Fees: Users will always pay the advertised price. Canva is committed to clear, straightforward pricing with no hidden costs.
Higher prices for new users 🤑
As previously noted, Canva’s rollback only applies to existing users. New users, however, will need to pay the higher rates to access Canva’s Pro features:
- €12 per month or €110 per year for a Pro subscription
- €9 per person per month or €90 per year per person, with a minimum of three people (€27 minimum per month or €270 minimum per year)
For basic use, Canva remains available for free to all users.
