In the digital age, securing your online presence has become more crucial than ever. In this week’s #AskGriots, we present some essential practices to better protect your online accounts.

Password Management 🔐

Protecting your accounts on online platforms starts with choosing your password. It is imperative to use unique and complex combinations for each account. Also avoid incorporating easily guessable personal information into your passwords.

Remember to regularly update the passwords of your most sensitive accounts, ideally every three to six months. To facilitate the management of your various credentials, the use of a secure password manager is strongly recommended. These tools allow you to generate and store complex passwords securely.

2FA and Phishing Prevention 👺

In addition to your main password, enable two-factor authentication (2FA) wherever this option is available. This enhanced authentication method generates a temporary unique code, in addition to your usual password, each time you want to log into your account. You can also opt for passkeys, a more recent technology that relies on a trusted device to secure your connections.

Stay vigilant against phishing attempts. Never click on links from unknown or suspicious senders. Also avoid using unsecured public Wi-Fi networks to access your accounts. If necessary, use a VPN.
