Cultural identity is an important thing for every human being, especially for children. In order to assist them in their growth and in the affirmation of their identity, the team of Adinkra Editions has set up the Adinkra Jeunesse platform.

Adinkra Jeunesse : a platform for the African children 📚

Adinkra Jeunesse is a digital subscription platform for African children’s books, implemented by ADINKRA Editions. The creation of this platform is based on a sad observation made by its creators after a survey conducted among 200 parents living in Central Africa and in the diaspora:

• African children are losing their sense of identity because they are exposed mainly to entertainment content with which they find it difficult to identify ;
• Parents find it difficult to find African content for children on the local and international market.l.

To solve this problem, the 2 founders Armelle Touko and her 11 years old daughter Marie Gabrielle, have set up their platform with the ambition to become in a few years, the first digital platform of African books for children in the world. The objective is clear:

Encourage children to read and discover their culture, while solving the problems of identification and representation in entertainment content

To date, the Adinkra Jeunesse platform :

• Makes available unlimited inspirational content with African characters, conveying African cultures and telling African stories
• Involves and accompanies schools, parents and educators in the awakening, promotion of reading and education of children
• Federate a community of users who interact, grow and contribute to the development and improvement of the ADINKRA experience.

The « Adinkra Jeunesse » platform is also a dozen illustrators and about two dozen authors who have been able to create content in French and in English:

• Illustrated books (children’s books, stories, historical books, leadership, personal development, etc.)
• Audio stories
• Games and coloring pages
• Educational cards

Evolve to better serve and protect children🧒🏾💖

To this day, the Adinkra platform, intended for children from the age of 3, is only accessible on the web via a browser. The dangers of the Internet for children are well known. To protect children and for the serenity of parents, the development of an application in addition to the web platform has become essential. The application will allow to :

• Limit children’s access to the internet (possibility to download the books in the application and have them read by the children offline)
• Make books more fluid and easier to read
• To have a better adaptability of the contents on various types of supports. (Tablet, smartphone)
• To circumvent the difficulties of internet flow specific to certain African countries (limitation of streaming).

If the existing platform has been realized with our own funds, the Adinkra Jeunesse team now needs 8000€ to develop the mobile application. We therefore call upon the TechGriot community to help us build a chain of solidarity to bring this project to the top, which will have a positive impact on future generations.

A fundraising campaign has been launched on the FIATOPE platform (click here to access). You will also find all the information on the history of Adinkra and the distribution of the funds that will be collected. The different contributions, by credit card or Orange Money, give the right to different contributions according to the amount.

This campaign is an ALL or NOTHING campaign. If the first level of 5350€ is not reached, all contributions will be refunded and the project will not receive any funding.
