Morocco wants smarter hospitals — Huawei and Dott Medical step in 🇲🇦🏥

A new partnership has been signed between Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Huawei Morocco, and Dott Medical. The goal is clear: modernize Moroccan hospitals and give telemedicine a major boost across the country.

Huawei’s role in the project ⚙️📶

The Chinese tech giant has committed to equipping Moroccan hospitals with stable and reliable connectivity infrastructure, alongside next-generation devices. Dott Medical, for its part, will provide precision medical equipment.

On the highly sensitive issue of health data, Huawei will also be contractually required to guarantee the confidentiality of patients’ medical information.

Training healthcare professionals 👨🏽‍⚕️📚

The initiative also includes a training program designed for Moroccan healthcare professionals. At the same time, the project’s viability will be assessed through a pilot program that will serve as a testing phase before any large-scale rollout.

A healthcare system seeking modernization 📈🏥

Morocco currently has only 7 doctors per 10,000 inhabitants — a ratio that remains well below international standards. In that context, the initiative appears to be a concrete response to the structural challenges facing the country’s healthcare system, particularly when it comes to access to care and medical coverage.

The timing is also significant. Morocco is a candidate to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, a global event that requires modern and efficient infrastructure — including in the healthcare sector.
