Galaxy S24 Ultra, king of Android smartphones for 2024, is here📱

This is certainly the highlight of the week. Samsung has just unveiled its new flagship smartphones for 2024, namely the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra. While the S23 Ultra was already the unholy champion of Android in 2023, the S24 Ultra is set to follow suit.

Galaxy S24 Ultra goes titanium 🪨

Distinguishing the S24 Ultra from its predecessor, the S23 Ultra, is like playing a game of 7 errors. Compared to its predecessor, it retains five photo modules at the rear and straight corners. Their frames also look similar, but that’s where the first difference lies. Like the iPhone 15 Pro, the Galaxy S24 Ultra adopts a titanium body that is 56% more scratch-resistant. But that’s not all. It also says good-bye to the curved-edge screen, an emblematic feature of Galaxy smartphones.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s generous 6.8-inch screen is now flat, with seamless edges. It benefits from a Gorilla Glass Armor coating specially designed for the front, reducing reflections by 75% to prevent distractions. On the rear, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 reinforces the device’s solidity, while IP68 certification guarantees water resistance to a depth of one meter. The dimensions of the new Galaxy S24 Ultra are slightly reduced compared to its predecessor, measuring 162.3 mm in height, 79 mm in width, and 8.6 mm in thickness, for a total weight of 232 grams. It will be available in black, grey, violet and amber from January 31, 2024. Three additional colors – blue, green and orange – remain exclusive to the Samsung Store.

Cutting-edge camera and performance 📸

When it comes to photography, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with four sensors on the rear and one on the front, offering a complete package for image capture.

• A 200 MP wide-angle lens with optical stabilization;
• 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens;
• 10 MP x3 telephoto lens with optical stabilization;
• 50 MP x5 telephoto lens with optical stabilization;
• 12 MP selfie module;
• Laser sensor, LED flash

Samsung’s modes, such as Night, Pro, Portrait, Slow Motion and Hyperlapse, guarantee extensive creative possibilities. It’s also worth noting that Samsung has worked hand-in-hand with Instagram and Snapchat to ensure excellent photo quality within these applications. In fact, the Galaxy S24 will be the first smartphones to be able to upload HDR photos directly to Instagram.

• Screen: 3120 x 1440-pixel definition for an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120 Hz, peak brightness at 2600 nits, 48% more than last year.
• 4 nm Snapdragon 8 Gen chip coupled with 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB to 1 TB storage (non-expandable).
• 5000 mAh battery with 45 W wired (USB-C) and 10 W wireless charging.
• Connectivity: NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G and Wi-Fi 7.

Galaxy AI and 7 years of updates ✨

While physically the Galaxy S23 Ultra evolves very little, it’s a completely different story on the software side. With this smartphone, Samsung introduces its own AI, Galaxy AI. As far as software updates are concerned, this generation of Galaxy smartphones will benefit from 7 generations of Android and 7 years of security updates, an extension of 3 years on previous offers.
