Spotify is the platform that has revolutionized the way we listen to music today. As a major player in the music market, the platform will be integrating an important medium for artists and their fans: video clips.

Switch from audio to video directly in Spotify📺

It’s time for video on Spotify. The music streaming giant recently announced the arrival of video clips on its platform. Following on from Canvas, the small videos used as wallpaper during playback, it’s now the turn of full video clips to have their place on Spotify. In practice, you’ll no longer need to go to YouTube to see the clip of your favorite song.

With a single click, it will be possible to switch from audio to video, by pressing the « Switch to video » option for supported music tracks. The video clip will then start playing from the beginning in the « Now Playing » view. To return to audio, simply press « Switch to audio ».

Available in 11 countries for Premium users🔬

The feature is still in beta and is being rolled out with a limited catalog. It includes video clips from artists such as Ed Sheeran, Aluna and Asake. As you’d expect, the feature will only be available to Premium users. What’s more, only 11 countries are concerned for the time being: UK, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, Philippines, Indonesia and Kenya. Spotify intends to use this beta phase to gather feedback from users and artists. Once they are satisfied with the result, they will offer this feature to a larger number of users and countries.
