If you’re a regular user of Spotify on your computer, you know how annoying it can be to switch from one window to another to control your music. With its new mini-player, Spotify aims to improve this experience.

Spotify always just a click away ⏯️

Spotify recently introduced a new mini player for its desktop application, available on Windows and macOS. This new tool, capable of sliding on top of other applications, will give you access to all the playback controls you need without distraction. It does this by taking up a minimum of screen space, while offering a visual overview of what’s currently being read. You can also :

  • quickly pause or skip to the next track,
  • quickly add or remove a song or episode from your library with a single click,
  • shuffle the queue or repeat a song.

As you can see from the illustration above, the mini-player adapts to both video and music content. It can display video podcasts in a video bubble with controls. You can enlarge or reduce the size of the video to suit your preferences.

However, the mini-player does not replace the main Spotify window. It’s easy to switch from one to the other. Tip: you can also click on the artist name, song name or album cover to open it in the main Spotify application.

The mini player is only available to Premium users at present. To use it, look for this iconAmayy_1-1710942675588.png  on your desktop application:

Do you use Spotify on your computer? If so, what do you think of this new feature? Tell us in the comments.
