Need to quickly share a file with another smartphone? Forget Bluetooth. We’ve got just what you need in this week’s #AskTheGriots

AirDrop on iOS, Nearby Share on Android

AirDrop is one of the key features of the Apple ecosystem. With just three clicks, you can easily share files with other Apple devices around you.

A similar but lesser-known feature exists on Android, called « Nearby Share ». Like AirDrop in the Apple ecosystem, it lets you share files between Android smartphones, but also with Windows PCs.

3-click sharing

To share a file via « Nearby Share », proceed as follows:
1. Select the file
2. Click on the share option
3. Choose AirDrop / « Nearby Share ».
4. Select the destination device.
