ChatGPT comes to Snapchat!… While tech giants have started to deploy artificial intelligence tools, Evan Spiegel’s social network announced earlier this week the integration on its platform of « My AI », a chatbot based on the latest version of OpenAI’s conversational robot.

My AI: Snapchat’s Chatbot 🤓

Snapchat has announced the launch of a new chatbot, named My AI, based on ChatGPT. It must be said that this feature is adapted to the different uses of the application and will only be accessible to Snapchat+ subscribers.

The least we can say is that with the integration of a conversational AI, Snapchat wants to position itself on the market of artificial intelligence, by proposing a use of chatbot oriented on the conversation.

What to expect from Snapchat’s Chatbot⁉️

In its official blog post, the application details some possible uses of My AI. Thanks to the chatbot, you can generate suggestions for a friend’s birthday present, plan a hike for a long weekend or even a recipe for dinner.

The chatbot is designed to interact and not to perform research, calculations or academic essays, so it is a bit limited unlike other chatbots.

Evan Spiegel, the company’s CEO, explains to The Verge his desire for a personal experience:

«The idea is that in addition to talking to our friends and family every day, we’re also going to be talking to AI every day. That’s something we’re well positioned to do as a messaging service. »

How about a more personalized experience? It is possible to change the background of the conversation and rename the AI. Indeed, it presents itself in the application as a virtual friend with whom the user can interact.

However, Snapchat warns the user against using the chatbot too intimately, especially because of the collection of conversations made to improve the product experience. In particular, the app asks not to share secrets with the AI, and not to rely on it to give advice. You have been warned🤭.

A chatbot still in experimental version 😥

Snapchat insists on the experimental nature of My AI, a welcome precaution after the drifts encountered by Bing in recent weeks. If the AI has been trained not to produce violent, insulting, sexually explicit or politically oriented responses, the company warns about the possible flaws of its AI :

« Like all AI-based chatbots, My AI is prone to hallucinations and can lead to saying just about anything. Please be aware of its many shortcomings, we apologize in advance! […] Although My AI is designed to avoid biased, incorrect, harmful or misleading information, errors can occur. »

What do you think about the ubiquity of AI in our favorite apps and software ?
