On September 21, YouTube presented the future of its platform at its major « Made on YouTube » event in New York. The least we can say is that the Internet video leader is betting heavily on AI for the coming years.

YouTube Create: L’éditeur de vidéo Made by YouTube 🎬🎥

YouTube is now used by millions of people every day. Despite its extreme popularity, the online video service is still seeking to reinvent itself, a policy of renewal greatly accelerated by the arrival of TikTok and vertical videos.
As many users have noticed, it’s generally easier to make a TikTok video than a full YouTube video. To correct this problem, YouTube has launched its YouTube Create application.

« The app offers video editing tools including precision editing and trimming, automatic captioning, voiceover capabilities and access to a library of filters, effects, transitions and royalty-free music with beat matching technology so that creators can produce their next YouTube video without relying on complex editing software. All this, right from their mobile phones. », writes YouTube in its blog.

The YouTube Create application is available as a free beta on Android (Play Store) in the following countries: USA, Germany, France, UK, Indonesia, India, South Korea and Singapore. YouTube plans to launch the app on iOS next year.

What are YouTube Create’s features?

To make video production easier and continue to ride the wave of Shorts, which generate « 70 billion daily views », YouTube Create will allow creators to :

  • Edit and trim video sequences.
  • Generate automatic subtitles and captions.
  • Add voice-overs and text.
  • Access a library of filters, effects, stickers and transitions.
  • Access royalty-free music with tempo adjustment technology.
  • Upload your videos directly to your channel from within the application.

Dream Screen: Generating content with AI

A new feature called Dream Screen will create AI-generated videos and photos that creators can place in the background of their short films.
Initially, creators will be able to enter prompts to generate backgrounds. Eventually, according to YouTube, creators will be able to remix and modify their existing content using AI tools to create something new.

Little extras from the YouTube conference

In addition to the above, new AI tools are available.
These include YouTube Studio, which will generate topic ideas and plans for potential videos. AI suggestions will be personalized to creators, says YouTube, and based on audience trends.

Another new feature is Creator Music, an intelligent music recommendation system. It will take into account the written description of a creator’s video to suggest audio tracks for use.
Finally, AI dubbing will enable creators to dub their videos into other languages. YouTube turned to the Aloud team at its Area 120 incubator earlier this year to help develop this feature.
So, what do you think of all these new features ?
